Etsy Store up and Running!!

Etsy.com, the premier website for all things handmade, is the newest home of First Step Designs. I set our virtual store up online several months ago, but had yet to actually "stock" anything in it. Joe and I have finally made a concerted effort, and we were able to put it all together. It's a lot of the same things that we feature on this site, except it is much more "purchase friendly". So take a look at our new store when you get a chance.

Butterflies Everywhere!!

In keeping with our focus on nature, here we present our butterfly series. Each of these pieces is no less than 6" high and contain some brilliant and eye catching color combinations. The hooks and antennae are solidly attached, and these lovelies are ready to shine. The butterflies shown here range from $25-35 retail.

Our Signature Flowers

These flowers are an original creation of First Step Designs, and are one of our hottest sellers. They come in several sizes, ALL colors, and either hanging or stemmed. The hanging flowers come with a hook, ready to catch the light in any window. The stemmed flower is solidly attached to heavy gauge copper, glass leaves attached and the entire assembly is wrapped in floral tape. They will stand approx 18" high when supported in a vase, or may also be hung using fishing line or ribbon. Hanging flowers retail for $16 each and stemmed flowers for $22.

Unforgiving Tree

This is one of Joe's abstract panels. It contains 37 pieces and measures approx 12" x 12". It is framed in metal and hung with black chain. While this exact piece is no longer available, we do have many panel designs to choose from, or are happy to work with you to design your own custom stained glass panel.

Where the Magic Happens

This is where the artists (and their 2 dogs!!), spend the majority of their waking time - in the studio.

Pete the Parrot

Let Pete the Parrot bring the beauty of the tropics to your home! He stands a full 18" high and 6" wide, and we used all colors of the rainbow. There is reinforcing wire carefully hidden throughout the piece, so Pete is sure to last for years to come. A hook with black chain is included. Pete the Parrot retails for $50.

Iris

The iris stands about 6" tall and uses a wispy pink glass, with twisted copper wire for a stem. The hook is artfully hidden in the back of the piece, as to not interfere with the overall beauty of the flower. There are many color choices for the iris, purple being one of the most popular. The iris retails for $22.

Abstract Geometrical

This Abstract piece is tastefully done in in a complimentary color scheme using American made Uroboros glass to represent the earth. Hand cut and ground, the workmanship shows down to the smallest detail - the hook was placed on the back of the piece as to not interrupt the flow. The piece is 11" high and 6" wide. While this exact piece is no longer available, let us create one of your very own. The abstract piece retails for $28.

Warning
by Jenny Joseph

WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL WEAR PURPLE
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
